The National Assembly adopted a resolution in support of distance (not local) e-voting in elections and referendums. The option may be used on condition that there are enough legal guarantees that the voting will be kept secret, the information systems will be fully protected and civil oversight will be in place. 192 lawmakers took part in the vote of the resolution; 136 voted “yes” and 56 “against”.
The parliament set the date of 29 February 2016 as the deadline for the legal affairs committee to consider all draft bills already submitted and newly moved concerning amendments in the Election Code, including those envisaging introduction of remote e-voting (outside of the country). The committee will have the task to review and analyze all the existing options and procedures regulating the distant e-voting applied by the European legal system.
In addition the end of April was set up as deadline for the legal affairs committee to prepare the draft bill for second reading of the adopted on first reading drafts amending the Election Code.
