Interaction between government institutions and business is necessary to seek ways for better career development of many young Bulgarian girls who receive prestigious education in the country and abroad, said the Chairperson of the National Assembly, Tsetska Tsacheva, at a meeting in the parliament with members of the Management Board of the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria. Female Members of Parliament also took part in the discussion.

I am impressed by the ambitious goals the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria has set itself, but what touched me most is your desire to attract young ladies in the challenging field you have decided to pursue, said the Chairperson of the National Assembly. Tsetska Tsacheva noted that there are many young Bulgarian girls who receive prestigious education in the country and abroad. We are indebted to those young people to whom, unfortunately, we still cannot offer the best career development in Bulgaria, she added.

The National Assembly Chairperson pointed out that she had familiarized with the work of the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria and stated that the forums organized by it were topical and helpful. Tsetska Tsacheva expressed satisfaction with the existing proactive dialogue between responsible parliamentary committees and representatives of the business. “I am ready to respond to your proposals and to discuss any topics that would contribute to a more tangible participation of women in politics and business”.

The Chairperson of the Management Board of the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria, Boryana Manolova, noted that the members of the Council trace and admire the work of female Members of Parliament and expressed her assurance that they contribute very much to the work of all parliamentary committees. She familiarized the Members of Parliament with the work of the organization and noted that among its key initiatives are the Leadership Academy for young ladies at middle management positions and an internship programme supporting youths in finding their first job. In 2015, over 2,000 trainees passed through our companies and 20 per cent of them remained at the job and we hope that their number will rise in 2016, said Boryana Manolova.

The Members of Parliament were invited to take part in the upcoming international conference “Global Women Leaders’ Forum” in Sofia in May. The sub-title of the forum is “To inspire future generations” as this is our role and mission, noted Boryana Manolova. In her words, Bulgaria is a very good example of how women develop without introduced quotas, which is proved by the ladies in politics and business.

At the meeting with the guests, the chairman of PG of PP GERB, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, noted that despite existing differences among the political forces, the women in business may set the tone and forget controversies. He suggested an option to be considered for Bulgarian Members of the European Parliament from all political parties to organize a visit to Brussels for business ladies from the Council of Women in Business.

The Chairperson of the Management Board of the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria, Boryana Manolova, submitted a decision of the Management Board of the organization for proclaiming the Chairperson of the National Assembly, Tsetska Tsacheva, an honorary member of the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria.
