The topic of cultural and historical heritage, cultural and historical tourism and development of the Northwest region is very important, said the Chairperson of the National Assembly Tsetska Tsacheva at a public discussion “The wonders of Vratsa and the North West. New opportunities for the development of cultural and historical tourism and the economy in the region”. The forum, which was organized by Standart newspaper, was held on 11 April 2016 in the Regional Museum of History in the town of Vratsa.

Tsetska Tsacheva thanked the organizers for selecting Vratsa to launch this year’s campaign “The Wonders of Bulgaria”. I am always glad to take part in it because I do believe that only a person who knows his roots, traditions, the tangible and intangible culture of his ancestors could be a truly modern citizen of Bulgaria and a true patriot who loves his country, she added.

I will never agree the North West region to be referred to in the past tense, because it is the people who have dedicated their professional path, civil commitments and personal attitude to the conservation, presentation and promotion of artifacts that enable us to have all these archeological treasures kept in the museums of the region and reveal its unique nature, said the Chairperson of the Parliament. North West Bulgaria is facing many problems, they are often present in the plenary hall of the National Assembly, and we have some of the most active deputies here to raise those issues, noted Tsetska Tsacheva.

The Chairperson of the Parliament noted that the National Assembly will provide assistance for exhibiting the Rogozen Treasure at the European Parliament. This would be an excellent way to show part of Bulgarian history, of the fact that we are proud heirs of the ancient peoples who have inhabited our territories and have left unique works of art, pointed out Tsetska Tsacheva. She specified that the European Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva and Bulgarian European members of parliament are also committed to the initiative and expressed assurance that all relevant institutions will use best efforts to organise the exhibition by the end of 2016.
I am convinced that open lesson among natural beauties, archeological monuments and in the rich museum halls  will be more impressive and memorable for our children, said Tsetska Tsacheva. She welcomed the idea to have a Day of Open Doors in museums so that the treasures kept in their funds become known and closer to children.  

The national public campaign for preserving the cultural and historical heritage of the country “The Wonders of Bulgaria” is held for a sixth year in a row. Some of its objectives are to promote the objects of cultural and historical tangible and intangible heritage of Bulgaria and make it a strategic national priority, promote the natural phenomena and design new routes for cultural and historical tourism.
