14/04/2016
The Chairperson of the National Assembly Tsetska Tsacheva attended the presentation of the book by Krasimir Uzunov “Kaymaka-Chalana” in the Commemoration Hall of the Military Academy “G.S. Rakovski”. The event is part of the commemoration of the Patronal Celebration of the education institution. Before that tribute had been paid to the fallen Bulgarian officers and soldiers at the military chapel “St. Archangels”. Wreaths and flowers were laid on the Monument of the Military School Classes.

With his book “Kaymaka-Chalana” Krasimir Uzunov delivered on the duty of our people to our grandfathers, noted the Chairperson of the National Assembly Tsetska Tsacheva and pointed out that 100 years after that battle the heroism of Bulgarian soldiers is overwhelming. In her words, this is the way to gain self-confidence so as to pass it over to our children and future generations. The Chairperson of Parliament added that the initiative for searching the heirs of those who had fallen in September-October 1916 on Kaymak-Chalan has become a national campaign. This is our duty to those who made it possible for us to be here today and for Bulgaria to exist, concluded Tsetska Tsacheva.

The book “Kaymaka-Chalana” by Krasimir Uzunov is dedicated to the fights in defending the Kaymakchalan position in August and September 1916 during World War I (1914-1918) and to the memory of the Bulgarian heroes who sacrificed themselves for the Motherland.

Over 6000 Bulgarian soldiers and officers climbed the highest peak of Nindze mountain, situated on the border between Greece and Macedonia, in early September 1916 and in early October less than 800 of them came down.

Present at the presentation of the book “Kaymaka-Chalana” were the Deputy Chairperson of Parliament Krasimir Karakachanov, Members of Parliament, the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev, His Excellency Simeon II, the Minister of Defence Nikoly Nenchev, the Chief of Defence Lieutenant General Krasimir Popov, high-ranking military staff, public figures and many citizens.
