The Internal Security and Public Order Committee had meeting with members of the Internal Policy and Sports Committee of the Lower Saxony’s Landtag. During the talks were discussed the current internal security situation and the fight against crime in Bulgaria, the handling of the migrant wave and the borders' security.
The interaction and collaboration with Germany is of strategic importance to Bulgaria, said the Chair of the Internal Security and Public Order Committee, Tsvetan Tsvetanov. He added Bulgaria and Germany work together on security issues in the framework of the Danube Strategy. Tsvetan Tsvetanov underscored that the National Assembly of Bulgaria has adopted law amendments in the area of security.
The Chair of the Internal Security and Public Order Committee informed the guests about the legislative changes to be adopted in order to optimize the work of the Interior Ministry and to augment the police presence in the small settlements.
Tsvetanov also informed the counterparts from Lower Saxony about the measures undertaken by Bulgaria in connection with the influx of refugees. He said further that Bulgaria acts very responsibly in regards to its obligations to protect the country’s borders.
