The Parliament adopted on first reading amendments to the Water Act aimed to simplify the procedure for cleaning rivers from deposits. The amendments were submitted by Stanislav Ivanov and a group of members of parliament.
At present, regional governors have the obligation to organize and coordinate the activities for cleaning river beds outside the borders of the urbanized areas. Where removal of deposits is necessary, the regional governor should be able to organize such removal, the amendments provide. Basin directorates will issue authorizations for the activities to ensure normal river flow.
The deputies also adopted on first reading amendments to the Water Act submitted by Dimitar Delchev and Nastimir Ananiev from the Reformist Block. The amendments provide for waiving the obligation for installation of water meters on fishponds built on a river for measuring the water inflow. Our proposal pertains to a nuisance in legislation, Ananiev said. At present there is no certified office and water meter that can be installed, he noted. Ananiev stated that repealing the requirement for measuring devices will not apply to the use of artificial chemical substances.
