The Parliament authorized establishment of polling stations outside diplomatic and consular representations abroad, based on at least 60 voting applications submitted. The total number of polling stations in a country may not exceed 35. The deputies adopted in full on second reading the amendments to the Election Code deposited by Tsvetan Tsvetanov and a group of deputies.
Polling stations will be opened up by a decision of the Central Electoral Commission at the judgement of the heads of diplomatic and consular representations. The proposal will be submitted by diplomatic missions to CEC not later than 25 days before the election day.
Direct election of mayors will be possible for settlements with over 350 inhabitants, the deputies decided. Until now directly elected were mayors at settlements with over 400 inhabitants.
The ballot papers outside the country in the elections for European Parliament and president and vice-president will provide a square “I do not support anyone”. Until now, this voting option in the ballot paper was provided only for parliamentary voting outside the country.
