Thirty eight per cent of the adopted legislative acts by the 43rd National Assembly address directly or indirectly the problems of business in Bulgaria, the President of Parliament Tsetska Tsacheva stated at the opening of a discussion forum “Security and Sustainability of Bulgarian Business and Politics”. The conference was organized by the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria and is held under the auspices of the President of the National Assembly.
Tsetska Tsacheva pointed out that this share was twice as high as the legislative initiatives directed at public administration. In her words, the priorities in the work of the legislative institution are to improve the business environment, public regulation and development of competitiveness and the National Assembly has always responded to the problems of the people. A major step we made at the beginning of this year is the amendment of the Normative Acts Act which enters into force in November, she said and added that legislative changes should not be an end in itself as they were set to improve regulation in the public sector in the future. According to Tsetska Tsacheva, the key to achieving security and sustainability in today’s global and full of challenges world is dialogue. That is why unity is essential but not in the sense of excluding differences but knowing well the goal and seeking the common path to it, the President of the National Assembly ended.
“Dynamics of the geopolitical environment and its reflection on Bulgarian business” was the first topic discussed by the participants in the discussion. The Chairman of the National Security and Public Order Committee of the National Assembly Tsvetan Tsvetanov stated that at present the security environment in Bulgaria allowed good prospects for doing business. We should deliver on our commitment to limit the refugee flow, he underscored. In his words, the next step is to improve smart security systems.
The Chairwoman of the Management Board of CWBB Engineer Boriana Manolova pointed out that political stability and economic stability were the two sides of the same coin. They are key components in the overall security of the country, providing sufficiently high social, political and defence potential for its efficient operation, she noted. Boriana Manolova added that positive development of the economy was unthinkable without a stable political environment so as to ensure transparent and fair conditions of doing business and protect the interests of economic entities and individuals.
The Director of the Institute for Population and Human Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Prof. Antoaneta Hristova and Georgi Krastev, Secretary to the National Security Council of the Council of Ministers also made statements on the topic.
A major statement in the second panel of the forum “Security and Sustainability of Bulgarian Business and Politics” made the Chairwoman of the Budget and Finance Committee of the National Assembly Menda Stoyanova. The executive directors of the National Revenue Agency and the Bulgarian Investment Agency Boyko Atanasov and Stamen Yanev also took part in the discussion.
