The lawmaker from PP GERB Dimitar Glavchev was elected President of the 44th National Assembly. 157 MPs supported his candidacy and 81 abstained.
Dimitar Glavchev was consecutively a Member of Parliament in the 41st, 42nd and 43rd National Assemblies. He was Vice-President of the 43rd Parliament. He was Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of GERB and chaired parliamentary committees.
I believe the key word of this National Assembly will be unity, Dimitar Glavchev said, after he was elected President of Parliament.
It is important to find solutions in priority fields like healthcare, education, social activities and security, he stated.
Dimitar Glavchev noted that the trust placed in MPs by the voters obliged them to work under the agenda dictated by them, regardless of who they had voted for.
Ahead of us lie important events, priority legislative decisions for which I am sure we will find common ground, he added.
As vice-presidents of Parliament were elected Tsveta Karayancheva from PP GERB PG, Valeri Jablianov from BSP for Bulgaria PG, Yavor Notev from United Patriots PG, Nigyar Dzhafer from Movement for Rights and Freedoms PG and Veselin Mareshki from PP Volia PG.
