“Bulgaria’s preparation for its accession to the European Union is going very successfully and fast”, President of the European Parliament Patrick Cox said during his meeting with National Assembly President Prof. Ognian Gerdjikov.
“We, at the European Parliament, would like to be sure that you will get what you deserve, namely the accession treaty at an early stage”, Mr. Cox underlined.

The two discussed Bulgaria’s European future, elections for the next European Parliament, as well as Bulgaria’s place as observer after signing the accession treaty in the beginning of 2005.

Bulgaria owes a lot to the successful work of the European Parliament for the fifth enlargement, Prof. Gerdjikov said and expressed his gratitude to the President of the European Parliament.
