The Speaker of the Parliament Dimitar Glavchev has had talks with the Ukrainian Ambassador Mikola Baltazhy. Dimitar Glavchev voiced the public concerns about the adoption of a new law on education.
Mikola Baltazhy stated that the new law will not change the rights of the Bulgarian national minority to study their mother tongue. The children of the Ukranian ethnic Bulgarians will be given the chance to further develop their language identity, said the Ukranian Ambassador.
As indicated by him, the Ministry of Education and Ukranian institutions are open to dialogue and provide detailed information to the Bulgarian executive branch. He thanked for the opportunity to discuss the issue with the Speaker of the National Assembly.
The forthcoming visit of a Bulgarian parliamentary delegation to Ukraine, led by the Speaker of the Parliament, was discussed at the meeting. The MPs will attend the commemoration of the 155th anniversary of the migration of Bulgarians to Tavria.
