The National Assembly hosted a discussion entitled “Children, state budget and the human capital of the nation”. The event was organised by the Committee on Children, Youth and Sports Matters. The debate was opened by Slavcho Atanasov, Chair of the Committee on Children, Youth and Sports Matters.

Jana Hainsworth, Secretary General of Eurochild delivered a presentation. The discussion was attended by MPs, experts, and George Bogdanov, Executive Director of the National Network for Children.

The aim of the event was to start a discussion between the legislative, executive and local authorities and civil organisations working with children and families on the long-term investment in children’s wellbeing in the context of the national budget.

The current challenges to civil organisations and experts working with children and families in Bulgaria were also discussed.
