215 health mediators have worked on site in 2017, next year they will be 230 in 117 Bulgarian municipalities, said Chair of Healthcare Committee Dr Daniela Daritkova at the opening of information stands where representatives of the National Health Mediators Network provided information about their activities and achievements.
Dr Daniela Daritkova emphasised that in 2001 there had been only 5 health mediators in Bulgaria, funded by projects. In 2006, they were 57 and their work was funded by the government, while in 2018 they will be 230 and work in 117 Bulgarian municipalities, said the Chair of the Healthcare Committee.
Support for health mediators is one of the few examples of continuity, consistency and real investment in prevention, which does not depend on the dynamics of political changes, said Dr Daniela Daritkova. She thanked everyone who worked on site, protecting and strengthening the reputation of health mediators. I wish you to continue to work hard, passionately and professionally, said the Chair of the Healthcare Committee to the mediators attending the event.
Representatives of the National Health Mediators Network acknowledged that the Healthcare Committee had supported their activities for many years and that 11 meetings on vaccine prevention of diseases had been held under its auspices. Our association is the largest organisation working on site, with proven results and achievements, they said.
The presentation of the information stands was attended by Deputy Speakers of Parliament Dr Nigyar Dzhafer and Yavor Notev, members of the Healthcare Committee and MPs from all parliamentary groups.
A discussion was organised in parliament to mark the 10th anniversary of the National Health Mediators Network.
