Speaker of Parliament Dimitar Glavchev has resigned as Speaker of the 44th National Assembly.

This morning he submitted his resignation to the parliament’s registry office.

I have submitted my resignation to the parliament’s registry office. This is a moral act and thus I want to restore the normal environment in the plenary hall and not cast a shadow on the forthcoming Bulgarian presidency of the Council of the EU, said Dimitar Glavchev in the plenary hall. You can see what efforts are being made, the situation is good, and I think that having been first among equals until now, I should set an example to restore parliamentarism in the National Assembly, he added.

I would like to thank everyone we have worked with: those who support me and those who do not; it is normal to have opposition and a ruling party, said Dimitar Glavchev.
