Deputy Speaker of Parliament Yavor Notev has talked to Miloslav Kala, President of the Czech Supreme Audit Office. They have discussed the activity and interaction between the audit office and the national parliament, and emphasised the very active role of the Bulgarian National Audit Office in the European Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI).

The task of the Audit Office to control the reliability of financial statements of budgetary enterprises, the lawful, efficient and effective governance of public financial resources, is very important, said the Deputy Speaker of Parliament. Yavor Notev told the foreign guests about the role of the legislative authority in controlling public funds and explained that the National Assembly could commission five audits beyond the approved plan of the Audit Office within a calendar year. The annual reports with opinions of the implementation of the state budget, the social security budget, the National Health Insurance Fund budget, and the budget spending of the Bulgarian National Bank, are submitted, debated and approved by the parliament, added Yavor Notev.

President of the Czech Supreme Audit Office Miloslav Kala praised highly the professionalism and authority of the Bulgarian National Audit Office, putting it on a par with other European supreme audit institutions. My assessment is based on our excellent cooperation and I can assure you that you can be proud of the institution you have, he said.

MP Nikolay Alexandrov and President of the Bulgarian National Audit Office Tsvetan Tsvetkov also attended the talks.
