When it comes to defence and armed forces, political colours fade, said Chair of the parliamentary Defence Committee General Konstantin Popov before cadets from the National Military University “Vasil Levski”. MPs from the Defence Committee talked to cadets from the Military University.
In his address to the cadets, General Konstantin Popov emphasised that 113 million BGN would be added to the Defence Ministry budget this year. They will be used to raise student maintenance grants, military officers’ salaries by over 10 percent, and employ another 1,300 military officers.
“The Parliament is responsible for how the army should be funded. We work to enhance the image of the officer’s profession, so that you can be proud of your rank,” said the Defence Committee Chair to the cadets.
The cadets were also addressed by Committee Deputy Chairs Boris Vangelov, Colonel Vladimir Toshev, Associate Professor Nikolay Tsonkov, and members of the Committee Admiral Plamen Manushev, Associate Professor Milen Mihov and General Simeon Simeonov. They expressed their gratitude to the cadets for having taken this difficult path and wished them a happy celebration of the forthcoming Student Day.
Cadets from the National Military University “Vasil Levski” came to the Parliament on an educational visit and had an opportunity to meet MPs and learn about the work of the Defence Committee.
