The new Anti-Corruption and Forfeiture of Unlawfully Acquired Assets Bill has passed second reading in parliament. The bill provides for the establishment of a single anti-corruption authority: Counter Corruption and Forfeiture of Unlawfully Acquired Assets Commission, which will control high-level public officials. The management of the Commission will be elected by the Parliament. The Commission will not deal with anonymous alerts.
Members of the Commission will go through an integrity check to ensure that they fulfil their powers and obligations with integrity in compliance with the Bulgarian Constitution and legislation, and in the public interest.
