On the day when Bulgarian officially takes over the presidency of the Council of the European Union, let us be aware that our actions and messages will shape the attitudes of the EU elite, said Speaker of Parliament Tsveta Karayancheva at the opening of the new parliamentary session. She urged the MPs to view the presidency not as an environment supportive of populism but as an opportunity for convergence.

She wished the MPs understanding, consensus, more productive debates and converging positions on the issues of key importance for the country. The first parliamentary sitting for the new session opened with the anthems of the Republic of Bulgaria and the European Union.

At the beginning of the session, representatives of the parliamentary groups made statements about their priorities during the new political season.
