Defence Committee Chair General Konstantin Popov has held meetings with representatives of the Union of Reserve Officers and Sergeants (UROS) and the Union of Reserve Officers “Atlantic” at their initiative.
The main focus in the discussion with UROS Chair General Zlatan Stoykov were the steps taken by the Union towards unification of all patriotic military organisations with shared goals and ideas. At the meeting, General Sotykov also presented the work of the Union on the drafting of military reserve legislation. The idea behind this is to regulate the rights, duties and contribution of the future organisation to the state and society.
Defence Committee Chair General Popov welcomed the idea of unification and added that observing the principle of nonpartisanism was an absolute condition for the organisation and work of the future Union. Thus the Union will be able to demonstrate its credibility and significance to the society, added General Popov.
The defence capabilities of the armed forces were discussed at the meeting with representatives of the Union of reserve officers “Atlantic” (URO). Reserve Major General Angel Zlatilov, Chair of URO Managing Board, presented the Union’s vision on the development of the organisation in 2018. At the meeting, the organisation shared the opinion that the modernisation of the Bulgarian Army had to be sped up. General Popov responded that the Defence Committee worked with commitment and diligence on the issue.
