Bulgarian parliamentary delegation meets with UK parliamentary Intelligence and Security Committee Chair

A delegation of the National Assembly has had a working meeting with UK parliamentary Intelligence and Security Committee Chair Dominic Grieve. Members of the Bulgarian delegation are Internal Security and Public Order Committee Chair Tsvetan Tsvetanov, Chair of the Committee for Control of Security Services, Application and Use of Special Intelligence Means Dimitar Lazarov, and MPs Filip Popov and Mustafa Karadayi, who are members of the two committees. The visit to London is at the invitation of Her Excellency Emma Hopkins, British Ambassador to Bulgaria.
At the working meeting, Dominic Grieve presented highlights and best practices from the work of the Intelligence and Security Committee. The legislative framework for the functioning of the committee in the British Parliament was also discussed. The Bulgarian MPs shared their views on a number of topical issues related to the security sector and the control of special intelligence means.
The Bulgarian delegation will continue its visit in London with a series of meetings, including meetings at the UK Home Office and the National Crime Agency. Discussions will be held on parliamentary oversight and control on the use of special intelligence means.
