Speaker of Parliament Tsveta Karayancheva has opened the exhibition entitled “Epic for the Unforgettable Bulgarian Volunteers” in the Triangular Tower of Serdica exhibition hall at Sofia Museum of History.
What we can see tonight is part of our heroic history, our pride, said the Speaker of Parliament in her welcome address. Here we can see how many precious lives were lost for the freedom of Bulgaria, she added. In her words, the April Uprising is our national revolution that showed the world that Bulgaria needed freedom, that it had heroes.
I wish that more people came to see this exhibition because nothing is more precious than the past, our history, everything that makes us proud to be Bulgarian, said Tsveta Karayancheva.
The photography exhibition, authored by Dr Tosho Peykov, is dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the Liberation of Sofia and Bulgaria. It contains 140 photographs which symbolically represent 140 moments from the lives of the Bulgarian volunteers.
