European Cervical Cancer Prevention Week marked in Parliament
24/01/2018
The 11th European Cervical Cancer Prevention Week has been marked in Parliament.
Speaker of Parliament Tsveta Karayancheva addressed the Healthcare Committee, under the auspices of which the event was held. As a mother and daughter I call upon everyone to take part in this campaign, she said. Tsveta Karayancheva also said that there is nothing better than prevention in the fight against cervical cancer and urged young women to get vaccinated. Young life is most valuable, added Tsveta Karayancheva.
Healthcare Committee Chair Dr Daniela Daritkova said that for the 11th consecutive year, this initiative united the efforts in the fight against the disease. In her words, Bulgaria has the mechanisms in place to cope with cervical cancer. Bulgaria can be praised for its prevention programme but it is important to remind everyone to get examined, listen to specialists and vaccinate girls at the right age, added Dr Daritkova.
Until 26th January 2018, there will be in Parliament a stand providing information about prevention methods for the only preventable oncological disease so far and the current National Programme on primary prevention of cervical cancer.
