Speaker of Parliament Tsveta Karayancheva has met with students from the Young Ambassadors Club at Petko Rachov Slaveykov secondary school in Kardzahli. The students explained that this year they participated in the EP Ambassador Schools Programme along with 30 other schools across the country. They said that they had an ambition to be the best and therefore they had organised a number of meetings and events dedicated to the start of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU. The meeting with the Speaker of Parliament today marked the beginning of their initiative.
Tsveta Karayancheva told them about the work of the Parliament, the Parliamentary Dimension of the Presidency and current political processes in Bulgaria and in Europe.
She accepted the young people’s idea to initiate together the setting up of “European Corridors” in every school in Bulgaria, which would contain information about every EU member state. The goal is to promote the European idea, to engage young people in the cause of united Europe, and also be active at the elections for a European Parliament.
The Speaker of Parliament gave the future politicians books about the history of the Bulgarian parliamentary system.
