Georgi Andonov, an artist from the city of Burgas, presented portraits of famous Bulgarians in Parliament. Speaker of Parliament Tsveta Karayancheva opened the exhibition.
MP from GERB parliamentary group Diana Savateva said that this was the second of a series of events in Parliament related to the culture of Burgas. She said that the exhibition contained 16 portraits of famous Bulgarians, for each of whom the artist had managed to identify and recreate on canvas a characteristic feature.
Speaker of Parliament Tsveta Karayancheva praised the MPs for their initiative and expressed her hope that this would become a tradition. She said that the Bulgarian Parliament was always open to the talented artists of Bulgaria, a place where their works could be seen by local and international guests. With regard to Georgi Andonov’s exhibition, Tsveta Karayancheva said that it had “portraits with a soul, the soul of the artist and his feelings”. In her words, each of the portraits had at least one feature which would be remembered.
MP Vezhdi Rashidov said that a portrait had many dimensions; it was a strange message of an image in history and in time.
