02/03/2018
At Colonel Boris Drangov’s monument in the park of the Military Academy “G. S. Rakovski”, Speaker of Parliament Tsveta Karayancheva laid earth from his monument in the village of Drangovo near Kardzhali. She urged that earth from the other two villages in Bulgaria bearing his name should be placed at the feet of the great Bulgarian.
Today we honour a remarkable military officer, commander, politician, patriot, pedagogue, Colonel Drangov, said the Speaker of Parliament in her speech at the inauguration and blessing ceremony of Colonel Boris Drangov’s monument in the park of the Military Academy “G. S. Rakovski”.
This monument shows our reverence and respect to the man, patriot, warrior, and commander, said Tsveta Karayancheva. The Speaker of Parliament emphasised that the history of the Bulgarian army was written with the blood of the soldiers who had died on the battlefields for the Fatherland. Tsveta Karayancheva recalled that one of them had carved out the words “I served under Drangov” with a knife in a rock near Belasitsa in 1916. This means a lot, it shows reverence and deep respect, she added.
Today more than ever we need Drangov to teach us to love Bulgaria and give us national ideals, said Tsveta Karayancheva. We need his words that life cannot be measured by years or distance, but by heroic deeds and achievement, she added and urged all military officers to be proud of being Drangov’s successors.
