The Liberation is a great date in our history, which paves the way of the Bulgarian state towards its revival, said Speaker of Parliament Tsveta Karayancheva on Mount Shipka in a conversation with citizens who had come to honour the memory of the heroes who had lost their lives for Bulgaria’s freedom. The Speaker of Parliament, MPs and hundreds of citizens climbed up the hill to the Monument of Freedom on top to pay respect to the sacrifice of the heroes. They took part in the commemoration ceremony for the 140th anniversary of Bulgaria’s Liberation.
We should remember that freedom is a privilege, said Tsveta Karayancheva. She urged that we should keep our freedom and pass it on to the next generations, be wise and think about the future because division did not help anyone.
A memorial service was held to the memory of all soldiers who had lost their lives for the freedom of Bulgaria. Dozens of wreaths and flowers were laid at the monument.
Earlier the Speaker of Parliament attended the thanksgiving service, held by His Holiness Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte and His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia in the Monastery of Shipka “Nativity”.
