Deputy Speaker of Parliament Emil Hristov met with President of the European Court of Auditors Klaus-Heiner Lehne. The President of ECA acknowledged that Bulgaria was the first country which opened its doors for active cooperation with ECA within its presidency of the Council of the EU. He expressed support and gratitude for the efforts that Bulgaria was making to pose for discussion ECA’s reports at important events organised by the Council of the EU.
Deputy Speaker of Parliament Emil Hristov said that Bulgaria was trying to build a more direct and effective dialogue between institutions. Our aim is to find working solutions, not just formal ones, he added. Emil Hristov emphasised that within the presidency of the Council of the EU, Bulgaria was trying to include new initiatives, which were achievable and to the benefit of all European citizens. He emphasised that the European integration of the Western Balkans ws among the main priorities of the Bulgarian presidency.
Bulgarian representative at the European Court of Auditors Iliana Ivanova also attended the meeting.
Klaus-Heiner Lehne is visiting Bulgaria to attend the high-level conference “The next multiannual financial framework: distributive, allocative and stabilisation functions” within the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU. At the informal council meeting, which is taking place today, leading EU experts and politicians are discussing the budget of the Union.
