The Committee on European Affairs and Oversight of European Funds met with the delegation of Macedonia-Bulgaria Friendship Group, led by Deputy Speaker of the Macedonian Parliament Frosina Tashevska-Remenski.
We welcome the strengthening of inter-parliamentary interaction between Bulgaria and Macedonia. The Treaty on Friendship, Good Neighbourliness and Cooperation between the two countries opened up opportunities for more active cooperation at all levels, said Chair of the Committee on European Affairs and Oversight of European Funds Kristian Vigenin. Kristian Vigenin introduced the guests to the work of the committee. The issues concerning the European Union that we are tackling are nonpartisan, emphasised the Committee Chair. The European prospect for the Western Balkans is a key priority of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU, said Kristian Vigenin. He recalled that the Treaty for Friendship, Good Neighbourliness and Cooperation had been unanimously ratified by the Bulgarian Parliament.
Committee Deputy Chair Ivelina Vasileva emphasised that Bulgaria fully supported the European development of Macedonia. We are ready to assist you because we already have the experience, emphasised Ivelina Vasileva.
Deputy Speaker of the Macedonian Parliament Frosina Tashevska-Remenski emphasised that after the ratification of the treaty, it would be much easier to address concrete issues between the two countries. In her words, the document will open up new opportunities for development of bilateral relations.
The meeting was also attended by MPs Imren Mehmedova, Peter Petrov and Ivan Ivanov.
