Opportunities for intensifying parliamentary dialogue and economic ties between Bulgaria and Vietnam discussed by the Speakers of Parliament of the two countries
25/03/2018
Opportunities for intensifying parliamentary dialogue and economic ties between Bulgaria and Vietnam were discussed at a meeting between Speaker of Parliament Tsveta Karayancheva and Chair of the National Assembly of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan. The presidents of the two legislative institutions had a meeting during the 138th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly, taking place in Geneva.
Vietnam is traditionally a good friend and key partner of Bulgaria in South Asia, said the Speaker of Parliament. Tsveta Karayancheva emphasised that the dynamic political dialogue between the two countries was a catalyst for further deepening the bilateral relations in a number of areas. There is unused potential for development and intensification of the economic ties, she added.
At the meeting, it was emphasised that the two countries needed to make efforts and seek opportunities to improve the significant decline in trade in 2017. To this end, the parliaments of Bulgaria and Vietnam can play a key role through intensifying dialogue between the friendship groups in the two legislative institutions.
It was mentioned that Vietnam was interested in strengthening exchange in education. It was also pointed out that many Vietnamese citizens who had graduated from Bulgarian universities, held important positions in business and the public administration in Vietnam, which was a great potential for further enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
