Speaker of Parliament Tsveta Karayancheva meets with President of the Parliament of Montenegro Ivan Brajović

Speaker of Parliament Tsveta Karayancheva spoke with President of the Parliament of Montenegro Ivan Brajović at the 138th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly, taking place in Geneva.
Speaker of Parliament Tsveta Karayancheva acknowledged the traditionally good relations between the two countries and the deepening sectoral cooperation. It was mentioned that the geographic proximity between Bulgaria and Montenegro contributed to the development of active economic ties. According to Tsveta Karayancheva, in order to better use this proximity, it is necessary to provide better transport connectivity between the two countries. It was also mentioned that there were unused opportunities in tourism, the food industry, metallurgy, the textile and furniture industry.
Tsveta Karayancheva emphasised that the European prospect for the Western Balkans was among the priorities of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU. We support the achievement of tangible progress in the European development of each country based on its individual merit, she added and expressed Bulgaria’s preparedness to support Montenegro’s negotiation process with parliamentary expertise in harmonisation of legislation.
The Speaker of Parliament expressed her satisfaction with the dynamic parliamentary cooperation. After our meeting in Sofia last December, there was a very successful visit of Dzhema Grozdanova, Chair of the Foreign Policy Committee, to Podgorica, added Tsveta Karayancheva. According to her, in view of the European prospect and the intensified parliamentary dialogue, the idea about a joint meeting of the Foreign Policy Committees of the two parliaments should be discussed.
