Foreign Policy Committee Chair Dzhema Grozdanova met with Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Zvizdić. They discussed the European prospect for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the current political situation in the country. The meeting was attended by Radomir Bogdanović, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Bulgaria, and Avgustina Tsvetkova, Bulgarian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Bulgaria made the topic of the Western Balkans a priority in the agenda of the European Union during the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU, and therefore it is positive that the strategy on the Western Balkans covers all countries”, said Dzhema Grozdanova. The Foreign Policy Committee Chair praised the guests for delivering the questionnaire to the European Commission, and expressed her hope that their country would be granted a EU candidate member status by the end of the year.

Denis Zvizdić expressed his confidence that the active cooperation between the two countries would continue and thanked for Bulgaria’s efforts to move the topic of the integration of the Western Balkans to the top of the EU agenda. “If Europe wants to keep peace and stability on the Balkans, the European prospect should be viable,” emphasised Denis Zvizdić. The Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina said that it was important that the political forces in the country should walk the way of reconciliation, in order to achieve real progress in the reform process. The amendments to the election law was an important pre-condition in this process. He said that the European prospect should be valid for all Western Balkans countries, and none of them should be able to prevent this process.

The representatives of the two countries expressed their hopes that the participants in the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Sofia in May would adopt conclusions which would outline the development of the European prospect for each country from the region.
