National Assembly President Prof. Ognian Gerdjikov received today the newly appointed Ambassador of Iraq to Bulgaria, H.E. Mr. Haider S. Al-Barrak.

Current development of Bulgarian-Iraqi relations and prospects for their invigoration, as well as Bulgaria’s consistent efforts for establishing security in Iraq, were among the subjects under discussion.

Bulgaria is one of the first states where the new Iraqi government accredited its ambassador and this fact shows the vital importance which this country attaches to its relations with Bulgaria, Prof. Gerdjikov said. He stressed that Bulgaria supports all international efforts aiming at Iraq’s stabilization, economic recovery and improving living standards of the Iraqi people.
