Physician assistants, nurses, midwives or rehabilitators will be able to set up medical and health care facilities for providing medical and health treatment, manipulations and prevention of diseases on their own This is intended by the amendments adopted on second reading by the National Assembly to the Law on Medical Institutions.

The texts of the bill stipulate that group practice for health care shall be carried out by a company or a cooperation established by medical assistants, nurses, midwives and rehabilitators who have at least three years of experience in the relevant professional field and who are registered under Art. 40 of the Law on Medical Institutions. The amendments also stipulate that healthcare professionals will be able to carry out health and medical activities at the patient's home when the patient's condition requires it.

The National Assembly agreed to impose a financial penalty from 500 to 1000 BGN to a medical establishment which does not provide or does not provide in time information about a medicinal product, for which the treatment effect is being monitored, to the National Council on Prices and Reimbursement of Medicinal Products. In case of repeated violation, the penalty will be from 1,500 to 3,000 BGN. The Parliament decided that when the violator is a sole trader, the financial penalty will be from 500 to 1,000 BGN, and if the same violation is repeated – from 1,200 to 2,500 BGN.
