The Constitution, adopted by the Seventh Grand National Assembly, has succeeded in providing security to all Bulgarian citizens and enabled democratic progress and development of the country. This was stated at the beginning of the plenary session by the President of the National Assembly Tsveta Karayancheva on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Seventh Grand National Assembly.

The Parliament President noted that after decades of totalitarianism and citizen oppression, deprivation of people’s fundamental rights and freedoms, the Seventh Grand National Assembly restored parliamentary democracy in Bulgaria. The aim of that parliament was to establish new social, business and governance democratic norms by adopting a fundamental law, Tsveta Karayancheva added.

Adopted on 12 July 1991 the Constitution guarantees fundamental citizen rights and establishes the organisation of state government, the President of the National Assembly reminded. According to Tsveta Karayancheva, owing to the fourth Bulgarian Constitution the country created the necessary conditions for Bulgaria's integration into Euro-Atlantic structures. Our country has become part of the democratic world, a fair, equitable and predictable partner in international relations, she emphasised.
