The 10th plenary session of the 44th National Assembly started in a new chamber in the premise of the Parliament located in Alexander I Square The hymn of the Republic of Bulgaria and the European Union sounded at the opening of the plenary session.

Parliament's President Tsveta Karayancheva opened the plenary session and called for the use of language of rapport in the name of our nation's welfare.

Parliament's President noted that from today onwards, the Bulgarian National Assembly completely occupies its new home, and that this moving transfer had been long discussed and hard to reach. For most of us leaving the historic Parliament building from 1884 was sad from a purely emotional view, with its beauty, modesty and lack of pomp, however, the current building has the undeniable advantage of offering far more work space, Tsveta Karayancheva said. According to her, the large-scale renovation carried out here aimed at making the building more comfortable, modern and functional, at least from the inside. The President of the National Assembly highlighted that it was not buildings, bricks, marble or concrete that define the quality of a Parliament's work, but the spirit of  lively people who work there and she added that if they have the will to offer citizens and taxpayers substantial debates and laws, they would not need to make excuses that ghosts from the past have interfered them.

Tsveta Karyancheva stated that they face another responsibility today - we need to speak, debate and listen to the opinion of other people, however at the same time to use the language of rapport in the name of our nation's welfare. Otherwise, opposition, language of hatred and maleficence among us politicians will be spread among our compatriots, and this is dangerous and destructive, she added. Parliament's President noted that these complex times require from them more than ever to be united and consolidated by their common goal - better life for Bulgarian citizens.

I will not let myself make moral judgements, however in a few minutes when I give the floor at the chamber to traditional addresses at the beginning of the new parliamentary session, every spokesperson here will be watched and heard by people, media and all of us, each will be morally accountable for his/her words, Tsveta Karayancheva stated.

Parliament's President noted that many citizens are properly perturbed that the coat of arms has not yet been removed from the building's facade of the People's Republic.  Tsveta Karayancheva added that this turned out to be very complicated and respectively expensive, yet constructive, nonetheless this unwanted symbol will be removed soon - if not during the current National Assembly, then during the next one. She thanked the current administration of the National Assembly and the entire team which managed to turn an empty space into a place for work within a month.

President Rumen Radev addressed the nation and the National Assembly from the Parliament's rostrum, and political parties, and the parliamentary groups made statements in connection with the beginning of the new political term.
