Student internships under the initiative “Anti-Corruption Academy” are under way

Today, 1 October 2020, the Chairman of the Committee on Anti-Corruption, Conflict of Interests, and Parliamentary Ethics at the 44th National Assembly, Boris Yachev; the Chairman of the Commission for Combating Corruption and Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property (“CCCCIAP”), Sotir Tsatsarov; the Ombudsman of the Republic of Bulgaria Diana Kovacheva, and the Rector of the University of National and World Economy Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov signed an agreement to launch a student internship programme.

The document is within the signed on 23 June 2020. Memorandum of Cooperation on the initiative “Anti-Corruption Academy”, which includes interaction in various areas between the Parliamentary Committee, the CCCCIAP, the Ombudsman and the UNWE – practical trainings, common research projects, organization of public lectures, etc.

Students from the UNWE majors in Law, Economics, Administration and Management, Sociology, and Political Sciences who have completed at least a second year may participate in the internship program after pre-selection at the university. The selection shall be made on the basis of their academic results, motivation, and results from a test on the knowledge and skills acquired. The internship in each of the administrations – of the Parliamentary Committee, of the CCCCIAP, and of the Ombudsman – will be within 10 working days, on a rotating basis, in accordance with the UNWE Academic Calendar.

The implementation of the internship program aims to introduce students to the activities and functions of the institutions, to provide opportunities for professional orientation, as well as to acquire practical experience, knowledge and skills to complement their university training. The internship for the first group of students is scheduled to start on 2 November 2020.
