National Assembly President Tsveta Karayancheva presented the Honorary Award “Reaching Hand” at the official ceremony for awarding the annual awards of the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria

The President of the National Assembly Tsveta Karayancheva presented the Honorary Award “Reaching Hand” awarded by the Management Board of the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria (NAMRB). She presented the award to the Mayor of Svetlya village, Kovachevtsi municipality, Stefka Evtimova at an official ceremony on the occasion of the Day of the Bulgarian Municipality, at which NAMRB announced its annual awards for 2020.

You are all the ones closest to the people, Tsveta Karayancheva said in her address to mayors, municipal councillors, mayoral deputies and representatives of municipalities. She congratulated the winners and encouraged all nominees, wishing them to continue to work actively for their municipalities in the same way, because the development of the municipality is very important for the young people to remain in their birthplace. This requires synergies between municipal, legislative and executive powers, the President of Parliament addressed mayors, municipal councillors and mayoral deputies. Tsveta Karayancheva thanked them for the fact that in extreme conditions, in a situation of emergency, they worked committed and very courageously to be able to counteract the Coronavirus. This virus has taught us that institutions should work together, she added.

The President of the National Assembly assured them that in the face of the legislature they have friends because the voice of the Bulgarian municipalities should be heard in the National Assembly and in the last few years fruitful cooperation is indeed a reality.

The award “Reaching Hand” given by Tsveta Karayancheva to the mayor of Svetlya village, Kovachevtsi municipality, Stefka Evtimova, is for collecting personal funds and buying masks and protective suits in cooperation with residents of the village for the needs of Emergency Unit - Pernik. The award is personal and is awarded as a personal example of how everyone's individual efforts are important for the community and motivate followers to assist municipalities and institutions in their efforts to protect the health of citizens.

Vice-President of the National Assembly Emil Hristov also took part in the ceremony. He gave the award “Reaching Hand” to Angel Ivanov, who since 8th March 2020 works free of charge every day with patients with a proven Coronavirus infection. Members of Parliament also attended the event.
