The National Assembly adopted a Report on the Activities of the Prosecutor's Office on Law Enforcement in the period January - August 2020. The report was adopted by 117 votes “in favour” to 61 “against”, with one abstention.

It was supported by the votes of “GERB”, “Obedineni patrioti”, DPS and “Volya”.

60 MPs of “BSP za Bulgaria” and one independent Member of Parliament voted “against”.

For the reporting period, a total of 162,821 files were supervised in the Prosecutor's Office, of which 142,112 were newly opened.

The pre-trial proceedings supervised by the Prosecutor's Office were 147,275, of which 62,042 were newly initiated and 91,335 were completed. Of the total supervised pre-trial proceedings, 18,351 were filed with the court by indictment.

The report of the Prosecutor's Office points out that of the 18,351 pre-trial proceedings filed with the court, the cases returned to the Prosecutor's Office represent 2.9 per cent. Of the 20,366 persons, 17,143 or 84.2 per cent were convicted and sanctioned.
