The Deputy Chairperson of the Environment and Water Committee Mladen Shishkov participated in a remote meeting of the European Parliament's Environmental Exchange Network

The Deputy Chairperson of the Environment and Water Committee (EWC) Mladen Shishkov participated in a remote meeting of the European Parliament's (EP's) Environmental Exchange Network. The event was held via videoconferencing, because of the complicated international situation due to COVID-19. In the course of the discussion it was highlighted the need for even stronger cooperation, shared principles, and concrete actions between national parliaments and the EP in terms of environmental protection.

In a statement preliminary sent to the participants in the meeting, the Deputy Chairperson of the Environment and Water Committee Mladen Shishkov noted that Europe has always been among the leaders in the fight for a cleaner planet and reducing the impact of the human factor on climate change. He reiterated that the transition must be fair and beneficial for all Member States in order to be achieved overall prosperity of the European citizens. It is indisputable the need of taking decisive steps for protection of the environment, as it has a huge impact on people's health and the sustainable economic development, said the Deputy Chairperson of the EWC.

Mladen Shishkov also added that the initiatives related to the Green Deal, as well as the efforts to increase energy efficiency and promote a circular economy with sustainable production reveal huge potential for the creation of new green jobs. Life quality improvement is achieved through a balance between economic efficiency, social justice, and environmental integrity, Mr. Shishkov wrote as well.

During the remote meeting of the Environmental Exchange Network, the participants agreed that through establishing good practices and open dialogue it would be achieved the goal for a united Europe's green future.
