Vice-President of the National Assembly Valeri Simeonov spoke with the co-chair of the Group for Interparliamentary Cooperation with Bulgaria in the Supreme Rada of Ukraine Tatyana Plachkova

The Vice-President of the National Assembly and Chairman of the Friendship Group Bulgaria-Ukraine Valeri Simeonov spoke with the co-chair of the Group for Interparliamentary Cooperation with Bulgaria in the Supreme Rada of Ukraine Tatyana Plachkova. Due to the complicated pandemic situation internationally, the meeting took place via video conference. Topics discussed during the meeting included opportunities to deepen the dialogue and partnership between the two countries, both at parliamentary level and in the areas of tourism, economy and education.

With its high number, the Friendship Group with Ukraine demonstrates its friendly attitude, respect and empathy towards the fraternal Ukrainian people, said the National Assembly Vice-President Valeri Simeonov and welcomed the responsible attitude of the Ukrainian authorities towards the administrative division and the preservation of the Bulgarian region. In his words, among the main priorities of Bulgaria is the opening of a secondary school in Odessa, as well as the opening of classes with Bulgarian language learning in the Zaporozhye region. Valeri Simeonov pointed out that our country relies on the Supreme Rada of Ukraine to support the implementation of infrastructure projects important for the Bulgarian minority in Bessarabia. We need to encourage investments of mutual interest and work for relief in the tourism industry, which has been connecting us for years, said the vice-president of the parliament. Valeri Simeonov also expressed Bulgaria's strong support on Ukraine's path to United Europe.

The co-chairperson of the Group for Interparliamentary Cooperation with Bulgaria in the Supreme Rada of Ukraine, Tatyana Plachkova, stressed the importance of comprehensive and long-term mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries. She also focused on the official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva to Kiev. During the meeting Tatyana Plachkova proposed to implement programs for cultural and family weekend tourism in order to strengthen the family ties of the Bulgarian minority in Ukraine.
