National Assembly President Velikov - Macedonian PM Buckovski - Meeting

NATIONAL ASSEMBLY PRESIDENT ASSOC. PROF. BORISLAV VELIKOV MET WITH THE PRIME MINISTER OF MACEDONIA MR. VLADO BUCKOVSKI

National Assembly President Assoc. Prof. Borislav Velikov met with the Prime Minister of Macedonia Mr. Vlado Buckovski. The two assessed the relations between Bulgaria and Macedonia as utmost good ones which contribute to the stability of the whole region as well.

Macedonia will rely on Bulgaria’s support on its road to EU and NATO membership, Prime Minister Buckovski stated. Assoc. Prof. Borislav Velikov underscored that the Bulgarian Parliament, sharing its experience, would assist for the harmonization of the Macedonian legislation with the European one. Vlado Buckovski expressed his hope that Macedonia would achieve status of a candidate country for EU membership by the end of this year and to conclude the process of negotiations in five years.
National Assembly President Velikov informed his guest about the priorities in National Assembly legislative agenda related to Bulgaria’s EU membership.

Both sides agreed that the parliaments of the two countries would work for strengthening of trade and economic relations and for development of infrastructure. Prime Minister Buckovski voiced hope for more Bulgarian investors on the Macedonian market and stressed the stabilization of the Macedonian economy.

Bilateral relations in economic area are good, as well as the cooperation upon the projects of mutual interest, Buckovski said. I hope that with common efforts we will improve infrastructure and the roads between Sofia and Scopje in particular, he added.
