"Times New Roman";mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi">The President of the National Assembly Tsveta Karayancheva paid tribute to the victims of the Holocaust. On the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, she stated that while it is painful to return to the atrocities of this darkest period in world history, respect for victims is the sacred duty of anyone who values life and human dignity.

Tsveta Karayancheva recalled that on 27 January 1945 the handful of survivors from the concentration camps in Auschwitz were released. On this day Bulgarians remember with worship for the deep humanity, morality and courage of the Vice-President of the National Assembly Dimitar Peshev, Bishops Stefan and Cyril, clerics, dozens of intellectuals, diplomats and citizens of Bulgaria, who - united, did not allow the deportation of Bulgarian Jews, pointed out the President of the Parliament. Tsveta Karayancheva adds that along with this we do not forget and with pain we bow our heads to the memory and suffering of the Jews from Vardar Macedonia and Aegean Thrace who could not be saved.
