MEETING OF NATIONAL ASSEMBLY PRESIDENT WITH THE AMBASSADOR OF THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA

Today, 2 August 2005, National Assembly President Georgi Pirinski received the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea H.E. Cheong Jai Sik.

National Assembly President informed his guest about the implementation of the legislative priorities of the 40th National Assembly related to the harmonization of the Bulgarian legislation with the European one.

The two appreciated highly the bilateral parliamentary cooperation, proof of which is the exchange of parliamentary visits - Korean Parliament President's one in 2002 and the official visit of a Bulgarian parliamentary delegation in Seoul in the beginning of this year.

Parliament President and the Ambassador expressed the interest of both countries in the intensive development of bilateral relations in all areas. They said that there are new horizons and challenges for the trade and economic relations development, including increased trade and attracting Korean investments.

Ambassador Cheong Jai Sik delivered a letter to Mr. Pirinski from his Korean counterpart who had sent his greetings for the recent election of the Bulgarian Parliament Speaker and wished Bulgaria success in its democratic development.

MEETING OF NATIONAL ASSEMBLY PRESIDENT WITH THE AMBASSADOR OF SERBIA AND MONTENEGRO

"I am happy being Ambassador in the most intensive and fruitful period in the relations between two friendly countries," the Ambassador of Serbia and Montenegro H.E. Mr. Danilo Vucetic said in the course of his meeting today with National Assembly President Georgi Pirinski.

The two shared the opinion that the common European prospect adds an impetus to the development of the bilateral cooperation in all areas. They highly assessed the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs in October 2004, which has been a sound basis for partnership on a European scale.

The positive opinion given by the preliminary study on as soonest as possible starting negotiations for signing a Stabilization and Association Agreement between Serbia and Montenegro and the European Union is a key moment on this country's road to the European Union, Ambassador Vucetic said.

Parliament President and the Ambassador stressed the importance of the interparliamentary relations for the development of the bilateral relations and the dialogue at standing committees and friendship groups level in particular.


Ambassador Vucetic extended an invitation to National Assembly President Pirinski to visit Belgrade, which was accepted with gratitude.

MEETING OF NATIONAL ASSEMBLY PRESIDENT WITH THE AMBASSADOR OF INDIA

National Assembly President Georgi Pirinski received today the Ambassador of India H.E. Mr. Dinkar Khullar.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the development of the Bulgarian-Indian relations.
Taking into consideration the untapped potential for bilateral cooperation development, Pirinski and Khullar confirmed the necessity of expanding both trade and economic, as well as scientific and technical cooperation.

Both sides noted the importance of the interparliamentary cooperation and exchanged invitations for parliamentary visits at highest level.

Ambassador Khullar delivered a letter to Mr. Pirinski from his Indian counterpart who had sent his greetings for the recent election of the Bulgarian Parliament Speaker.
