The European Parliament welcomes Bulgarian observers

On 26 September 2005 the European Parliament will officially welcome observer MPs from Bulgaria and Romania.
The Bulgarian observers will take part in the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg from 26 to 28 September. They will be officially welcomed in plenary hall on 26 September and will meet European Parliament President Josep Borrell on 27 September. The observers will also meet European Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn, the Association of European Parliamentarians and the EP Rapporteur for Bulgaria Geoffrey Van Orden.
The EP observers' term of office will end on accession of Bulgaria to the European Union. Their main task will be to get acquainted with the work and the procedures of the European Parliament. Each observer will be able to join one of the seven political groups and can participate in the deliberations in committees and political groups.
