On 28 September 2005, National Assembly President Georgi Pirinski met with a delegation of the Supreme Court of Cyprus led by its President Christos Artemides. The delegation is on a visit to Bulgaria from 27 to 30 September 2005 at the invitation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Bulgaria.

Legislative priorities of the 40th National Assembly related to Bulgaria's EU membership, Cyprus experience in the process of harmonization of its national legislation with the European one and the interaction between legislative bodies and constitutional courts in both countries were among the subjects under discussion during the meeting. Artemides expressed his satisfaction with the meetings he held in Bulgaria and highly appreciated this country's efforts towards its accession to the EU.

National Assembly President Pirinski expressed hope that the Cyprus Parliament will soon ratify the Treaty of Accession of Bulgaria to the European Union.
