On 8 March 2006, National Assembly Chairman Georgi Pirinski attended the voting of the ratification of the Treaty of Accession of Bulgaria and Romania to the European Union at the Portuguese Parliament. Later in the day, Pirinski conferred with the President of the Assembly of the Portuguese Republic Jaime Gama.

On 9 March 2006, National Assembly Chairman Pirinski was a guest of honour at the inauguration of the newly-elected President of the Portuguese Republic Cavaco Silva.
