Croatia - Gerdjikov - Meetings
09/12/2002
National Assembly President Gerdjikov met Croatian Parliament Speaker
Zlatko Tomcic and Prime Minister Ivica Racan
The prior objectives of both countries and common strategic aspiration for EU and NATO membership were the basic topics of Prof. Gerdjikov’s talks with the Croatian Parliament Speaker Zlatko Tomcic and the Prime Minister Ivica Racan.
The Republic of Croatia will apply for EU membership in February 2003, became clear after meetings.
Bulgaria supports Croatia in its aspiration for EU and NATO membership, Prof. Gerdjikov stated.
The two countries are united around their common goals - NATO and EU membership and back the idea for an individual approach to each country.
Both sides came to an agreement to enhance parliamentary co-operation, especially among the standing parliamentary committees. Croatian side particularly insists on intensifying the relationships between the Foreign Policy and European Integration Committees of both parliaments with a view to the forthcoming Croatia's application for EU membership. The Internal Policy Committees of the two parliaments could co-operate on issues related to EU and NATO membership requirements.
At the meeting with Zlatko Tomcic Prof. Gerdjikov put a question on the founding a regular airline between Sofia and Zagreb.
