EU-BULGARIA JOINT PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE - MEETING
Brussels, 13 - 14 September 2006

The 22nd meeting of the EU-Bulgaria Joint Parliamentary Committee will take place in Brussels, at the European Parliament building, on September 13 and 14.

Bulgaria's progress towards accession to the European Union will top the agenda of the forum.

The meeting will be opened on 13 September 2006, Wednesday, by the Co-Chairs of the EU-Bulgaria Joint Parliamentary Committee Ms. Catherine Guy-Quint and Mr. Atanas Paparizov.

Attending the meeting will be Mr. Atanas Paparizov, Co-Chair of the EU-Bulgaria Joint Parliamentary Committee and Chairman of the parliamentary European Integration Committee, and the MPs Maria Anguelieva, Rosen Vladimirov, Assia Mihaylova, Mitko Dimitrov, Konstantin Dimitrov, Todor Kosturski, Maya Manolova, Silviya Stoycheva and Dimitar Yordanov.

Statements will be made by representatives of the Council of the European Union and the European Commission, Bulgaria's European Affairs Minister Meglena Kuneva, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivailo Kalfin, Interior Minister Roumen Petkov, Agriculture and Forestry Minister Nihat Kabil, Deputy Ministers of the Bulgarian Government.

The 22nd meeting of the EU-Bulgaria Joint Parliamentary Committee will end with the adoption of a final declaration.

After the end of the meeting on 14 September 2006, Co-Chairs of the EU-Bulgaria Joint Parliamentary Committee will give a news conference.
